2020-2021 YEARBOOK INFORMATION

The 2020-2021 Yearbook is going to be a lot different this year. The major change this year is that the Yearbook won’t be delivered in early June. I know this will affect many people, but this is the only feasible option. More information will be coming detailing the specifics of purchasing and pickup. We are looking at the best procedures for our Seniors.

We have a great plan in place for Autographs. You will be able to collect them in late May and Yearbooks will be delivered in late July. The Yearbook is normally 90% finished by mid March. This is so Jostens, our publisher, has time to print and assemble the main book. When the main books arrive, we generally add a small 16 page Supplement to the back of the book for Spring Sports & Prom. Because of our current situation with COVID-19 and remote learning, there would be very little content for the book by March.  Schools have had to make the decision to move delivery back a couple of months so we can include more content and get more students into the book. We do not want to miss adding our normal sections of the book, and by using the late July delivery date, we are able to include all the normal sections plus add a special section on this year's Senior Graduation. We will include all the regular Senior sections and hopefully all of our normal content. Of course, everything is dependent on what school looks like in the following months as we are all in uncharted waters.

The Staff is determined to provide an in depth and creative Yearbook. This will truly be a special book this year. They have been working extremely hard to prepare remote gathering forms and Social Media to reach students for content. Please understand, these changes are out of our control. We have made the best decisions to adapt to the current changes for the SWHS/SWA Yearbook.

Again, thank you for your understanding and patience. We will make this a special Yearbook to correlate with a special year.

This is the second of two emails you will be receiving about the 2020-2021 Yearbook

Hello all,
Here are the major changes that we are being forced to implement this year. Please understand, these changes are out of our control. We have made the best decisions to adapt to the current changes for SWHS/SWA Yearbook. The following are details about certain changes for the book.

  1. Delivery Date of Yearbooks. The delivery date to the students will be around July 28th, 2021.
    1. There is no way to have the books delivered, as usual, in late May. June 20th will be the last turn-in for the book. Jostens will then create the book and ship it out as fast as they can. Late July is the current delivery timeframe.
    2. There will be a Summer Pick-Up at the school.
      1. Information on dates and times will be sent out as soon as we can confirm delivery.
    3. One bit of good news is that, for the first time, we will have a Graduation section of the book.
  2. What about Seniors with the late delivery? I am sorry, we will do everything to get the books to you as soon as we can but there is nothing we can do about the delivery date. You will have to plan for this with Parent/Guardians, especially if you will be leaving for college before this date.
  3. What about Autographs and getting our books signed? We have a plan for this. Jostens is supplying us with Autograph Inserts. These are special insert booklets that have taped edging to insert to the back of your book when they arrive.
    1. If school is back in session before June, everyone will be able to get signatures and autographs from everyone you need.
    2. If we are still in a remote school status, the inserts will be available for pick-up in May.
  4. Where do we buy a book? Books are available for purchase online. Not only can you purchase your book online, you can also purchase other products, custom features and Add-Ons. If needed, you may also buy one at the front office/ASB, but we recommend using the online feature.
    1. Online Ordering: Jostens SWHS Store Front (https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1118798/South-Whidbey-High-School/2021-Yearbook/2020081204502238377/CATALOG_SHOP/)
    2. Dates: Books are $50.00 until January 30th. After January, they raise to $60.00
  5. SENIORS: What about Senior Photos? Information on taking the photo and submitting Senior Portraits will be sent in a separate email very soon.
  6. SENIORS: Quotes, Wills, Most Likely? Yes, we will be gathering this information through Google Forms.
  7. SENIORS: Senior Grad Ads? Yes, we will have Recognition Grad Ads.
    1. Information on pricing, as well as how to purchase an Ad and create one, will be sent in a separate email as well.
    2. Senior Grad Ads must be purchased before March 31st.
    3. You may purchase one at any time Online: Online Ordering: Jostens SWHS Store Front
  8. What about Class Photos for Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors? A special class photo area will be in the book. This will be in place of the standard Mugs section.
    1. Students will be asked to submit a special class photo for the Yearbook.
    2. This is voluntary. If you don’t wish to participate, you won’t have to.
    3. We will send-out information on this soon.
  9. What about participating and being in the book? Yes, we will be using Google Forms, throughout the year, to collect information, stories and photos covering multiple areas of content for the book.
  10. SPORTS: Yes, we will have sections covering all sports.

Again, thank you for your understanding and patience. The Staff is determined to provide an in depth and creative Yearbook. We will make this a special Yearbook to correlate with a special  year.
